The petition was presented to our Legislators on March 8 - International Women's Day, and will be updated at the end of the month.   Our goal is to get an ERA question on the Nov 2022 ballot - so we, the citizens of MN, can vote on it.

If you are an Ally - please
post a link to this Minnesotans for Equality petition on your social media platforms between Feb 22 - March 30, and  describe why you want Minnesotans to vote on adding the ERA to our state constitution. (see more info below)

Minnesotans for Equality

Welcome and thank you for your support of the Minnesota Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). As you may know, the MN ERA is stuck in the legislature and we need to demonstrate to legislative leaders that support for the MN ERA is strong throughout our great state!   Help us launch a petition for all of  Women’s History Month!

What you can do:
Allies (organizations and individuals) - between February 22nd and March 8th, please post a link to our petition (eramn.org/petition-donation) on your social media platforms, and  describe why you want Minnesotans to vote on adding the ERA to our state constitution.  You can do that by making and posting a short video - or just write a post.  (directions and ideas below)

Make an "ERA for MN" Video or post:
It's easy!  Just take a selfie video and then post it to social media like you would a photo.  Remember to link to the petition (eramn.org/petition-donation) and hashtag #ERA4MN !   If videos aren't for you - just do an "ERA for MN" post (see sample script below).

5 Easy Steps:
  1. Hold your smart phone like you are taking a selfie -  start recording
  2. Talk into the camera (see sample script below).
  3. Make it 45 seconds or less - doesn't have to be fancy!
  4. Post to your social media - just like posting a picture.
  5. Add text (see sample text below) with link to petition and #ERA4MN

Sample Script for Videos:
For Individuals:
Hey friends! RICHARD here and I wanted to say that its time for Minnesotans to vote on an Equal Rights Amendment - it is way past time that we guarantee equal rights for ALL in our state constitution. If you agree, please join me in signing this “Minnesotans for Equality” petition! We will send a unified message to the Minnesota Legislature together: Let’s get this done!

For Organizations:
Hello, this is NAME, the TITLE for ORGANIZATION NAME. We are joining the effort to push for a Minnesota Equal Rights Amendment - but first we need the legislature to act! We can ensure that our constitution provides equal legal remedy against sex/gender discrimination for all people - but we need your help. We are asking you to sign this “Minnesotans for Equality” petition and share your own support for the Minnesota ERA. Click the link below, and thank you!

Sample Social Media Posts:
With a Video:
Check out the video I made in support of the Minnesota Equal Rights Amendment. March 8th is International Women’s Day and ERA Minnesota (ERAMN) is collecting petition signatures to show legislators on that day that there is strong support for this much needed amendment. Please click this link (ERAMN.org), sign the “Minnesotans for Equality” petition, and make your voice heard!

Without Video:
Passing the Equal Rights Amendment will ensure that the rights of women and girls are guaranteed by our Minnesota Constitution. This measure is intersectional and will positively affect inequities in the lives and economic status of individuals most affected: LBGTQIA, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and Women of Color. We're teaming up with ERAMN to show legislators there is real support for the ERA. Please click this link (eramn.org/petition-donation) to sign the “Minnesotans for Equality" petition today. Then share this link to your own page to demonstrate why YOU support the state ERA for Minnesota!  #ERA4MN
