Senator Jensen Supports Equal Rights for Women!
Contact Senator Jensen now! Why contact him? Senator Jensen (R-SD47) is a member of his party’s leadership team and holds significant power to help determine what legislation could be heard -or not heard- in committees and ultimately how the GOP responds to women’s rights and women’s issues. He has co-authored Senate File 3106 - a bill supporting adding an Equal Rights Amendment to the ballot in 2020. However, "gender" has been changed to "sex" - which mimics the proposed US ERA. Thank him and encourge him to convince his party that they need to show the women of their district and all of Minnesota that they support ALL of their constituents EQUALLY, regardless of their sex. Here's example text - feel free to use it, adapt it or just write your own. Dear Senator Jensen, I’m writing to thank you and to encourage you to convince the rest of your party to support placing the Minnesota ERA on the ballot in 2020. The Minnesota Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is about creating opportunities for everyone regardless of their sex and I think that Minnesotans should get to decide if we want the amendment as part of our Constitution. I believe passing the amendment will help address serious issues in Minnesota like gender violence, workplace discrimination, parental rights and the wage gap. I also believe it will help create a more open society and begin a cultural shift that truely values women and their work and place in society. Thank you for your support in putting the Minnesota ERA on the ballot in 2020. I hope you are also in favor of removing the time frame on the Federal ERA (SF208). Thank you for your consideration of my viewpoint on this matter. I believe it is an extremely important issue, and would like to see the legislation pass to enable the citizens of Minnesota be able to vote for themselves on this amendment. Sincerely, Here are a few tips for talking to legislators:
