ACT Now!

ERA Day -Lobbying 101
It's been a 100 years since women got the right to vote.  Immediately after that they introduced an Equal Rights Amendment and began the fight to get Equality for All as part of our United States Constitution.   Sometimes the fight seems exhausting and leaves you wondering "What can I do?  Does it even matter?"

YES!  It does matter!  And we will win this fight!  Here are some things you can do that make a difference -- even if they seem small to you, like sending a postcard to your Senator, when we all do it it adds up to something big!

Click on the links below to learn more about each action and what you can do:
  • CALL Now
Contact the Senators that are, in effect, blocking the ERA from being heard in committee.  Being heard in committee is the first step to move this along and without that it just sits in No Where Land.

  • Lobby (or talk to) your Representative and Senator
    ERA Day - January 31, 2022 >>>  Lobbying 101
Let them know that you are in favor of an Equal Rights Amendment and think they should be too; even if they have already come out and made a commitment you agree with -- you need to let them know that too!

  • Host a House Party (Zoom Party?)
This is to educate people about the fact that we do NOT actually have an Equal Rights Amendment in our state's or country's constitution.  Over 75% of the people in America think we already have an ERA -- why would you fight for something you think we already have?  You wouldn't.  So, educating folks that we do not have an ERA and encouraging them to write a letter to the editor, call their rep, send an email, etc is one of the most important things we can do!

  • National ERA Actions
Easy things to do to support the national ERA fight.
  • Write Letters & Make Phone Calls
Write or call your Representatives.  AND/OR Write a Letter to the Editor and spread the word wider -- write and submit a Letter to the Editor of your local paper.  Gather some friends (Zoom works too!) and make some phone calls to key senators.

  • Make a Resolution
Work with your city council person, county commissioner, president of your union, Pastor of your church, Rabbi of your temple, Imam of your mosque, or ??? to pass a resolution supporting the ERA and calling on the House and Senate to pass a bill for an act proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution.

  • Record an ERA YES! Video
ERA MN is asking people to create short 30 to 60 second videos featuring themselves or people they know talking about why the ERA matters to them OR recording the amendment in their first language to help spread the word.

  • Buy ERA Gear
Buy ERA Gear (Mask, T-Shirt) Wear it to show your support and educate people when they ask "What is ERA?"
